Sara's Trash the Dress!

Sara picked out a fantastic location for her trash the dress session, and even let my fulfill my long standing dream of photographing a bride riding a horse! However, realize that circumstances of the horse photos was not nearly as serene as I made it appear. The first horse we tried would have nothing to do with the dress, and the second horse gave us just enough false confidence to let her mount the horse so that he could buck her off. Working with animals is always a challenge, but when it comes to horses, my favorite animal on the planet, it is always worth it.

Katie and I had a terrible time sorting this session because there really weren't any bad photographs. The location, the model, and the lighting were all so great that the session ended up going until after the sun set. In retrospect it is probably a good thing the sun was setting, because in the time we had I shot as many photographs as an average wedding, and I don't really know how to stop taking photographs without some sort of concrete reasons necessitating we stop.

So in light of the abundance of stellar images, I thought I would show the best 125 instead of the best 8 images. Enjoy the show!

New Computer

This post is going to loose the interest of just about everyone, but I need to vent about computers! Last fall I thought that I would solve all of my computer woes by buying a shiny new plastic dell with 4 gigs of memory and a quad core processor. It has not run the way it should from day one. There have been maybe seven different work-stopping problems with it. I had just started to think that I may have fixed the latest crashing problem when a new problem appeared. Now it types the letter "R" constantly, making it impossible to use. In the middle of trouble shooting the computer I came to learn that my Dell is almost completely not upgradable. I believe that Dell has a disposable computer additude about their computers, and I will never purchase one from them again. (However their LCD monitors are fantastic) As I searched for a different manufacturer, none of them instilled a sense of confidence in me, or gave me any reason to believe that they are better than Dell, until I found Cyber Power. They build custom computers for gamers. I don't have any intention of becoming a gamer, but conveniently enough, running high end photo editing software puts the same strains on a computer as the latest World of Warcraft game. So after a day or teo of research I designed my dream machine. It is truely state of the art and can handle anything I throw at it, up to 7 internal hard drives, and 24 gigs of ram, which is unfathomable, for you non techies out there.
So now I just have to live without a PC untill wednesday. I am sure someone is wondering why I don't want a mac. The main reason is that if I had apply build a computer that is almost as good as the one I just ordered, it would be over $3,000 more expesive. The second reason is that the MAC OS is no longer far superior to Windows, now that Microsoft has released Windows 7.
It seems that Microsoft has finally gotten it right.

Now with the new PC in route, hopefully I will be able to get caugt up on processing all our recent weddings and maybe even have time left over to update the blog!!!!

Dan + Sarah Engagement

It wasn't long after I purchased the original Canon 5d that I started imagining the 5D
Mark II. Now that I finally have been able to use it, I have mixed feelings about it, and a few frustrations, but after uploading this first session into lightroom I had no more doubts that it was worth the upgrade. I was not expecting much of a change in image quality, but was presently surprised to discover the dynamic range is visibly wide and the color clarity is remarkable.
